Finding Passive Candidates

I have been in the recruiting industry since 1984 and with the talent shortage facing us we need to be sure that the hiring managers and clients are getting the best possibly candidate for each and every position. In order to do this, it is necessary to include the passive candidates in the pipeline of candidates. I am all for social networking, using research and recruiting tools but there still is no replacement for exceptional customized research. I believe research is the foundation of every successful search and is a necessary step in the search strategy. In order to uncover the passive candidates it is the role of the recruiter to seek them out. Do you agree with this? As part of the research strategy, the recruiter should also be using tools to assist with name generation and networking.

Finding the passive candidate can be simple if we know where they are, who they are and having access to them.
